Combined effects on Fe-Cr-C hardfacing deposited by new technique FCDW-GTAW

The hardfacing deposition with the GTAW process is widely studied addition of metallic powder or solid wire. This study introduces an original method, flux-cored-double-wire (FCDW-GTAW), where wires different compositions are used simultaneously to deposit hardfacing. Because complexity in stabilizing welding system, combined effects parameters should be investigated, allowing elaborate prediction models for geometry and dilution deposits. These aspects crucial target application, wear-resistant layers based on Fe-Cr-C composition, requiring a low-level bead-geometry quality. Five were chosen model deposition: current, speed, standoff distance, torch angle, wire feed pulse frequency. Therefore, using Response Surface Methodology five factors at levels plan experiments, thirty-two conditions necessary responses.
